Proceeds from the sales of
Christmas and gift cards produced by Tuckombil Landcare
(TLC) near Alstonville, are providing a significant donation
to the Northern Rivers group, Friends of the Koala.
'Members decided at our latest meeting to donate $500 to assist in the good work that Friends of the Koala do," said Tuckombil Landcare president, Neville Sloss.
A card was specifically designed by member, Prue Taylor, and featured a drawing of a native lilly pilly, the Christmas card version having a star atop. We still have cards remaining to provide funds for other worthy environmental causes," said Neville.
"The donation is a lovely surprise and strengthens existing linkages between the two groups" said President of Friends of the Koala, Lorraine Vass. "Some TLC members have had cause to contact us about koalas on their properties and others source koala food trees and rainforest seedlings from the Friends of the Koala Plant Nursery. It's great to see local groups which are working so hard in their own way to maintain the region's biodiversity, helping each other out."
